Hours after the reports of Home Ministry directing Delhi government to stop home isolation for COVID-19 patients surfaced, Delhi LG Anil Baijal has ordered mandatory five-day institutional quarantine for each COVID-19 case under home-quarantine, reported PTI.

The number of coronavirus cases in India rose by 13,586 to 3,80,532 on Friday in what is the biggest one-day spike. The death toll increased by 336 to 12,573. According to the Union Health Ministry data, there are now 1,63,248 active cases across the country, while 2,04,710 patients have been cured or discharged.

Maharashtra and Delhi had recorded their biggest single-day spikes in the number of coronavirus cases on Thursday. While the national capital recorded 2,877 new COVID-19 cases, taking its tally to over 49,000, Maharashtra reported 3,752 new infections, which took its total number of cases to 1,20,504. The death tolls in Delhi and Maharashtra stood at 1,969 and 5,751 respectively.

Maharashtra and Delhi recorded their biggest single-day spikes in the number of coronavirus cases on Thursday.

While the national capital recorded 2,877 new COVID-19 cases, taking its tally to over 49,000, Maharashtra reported 3,752 new infections, which took its total number of cases to 1,20,504. The death tolls in Delhi and Maharashtra stood at 1,969 and 5,751 respectively.

20,000 Samples Tested for COVID-19 in Delhi Yesterday: Sources

As many as 20,000 samples were tested for COVID-19 in Delhi on Thursday, Delhi government sources were cited by ANI as saying.

Committee Recommends Reduced Rates to Delhi Hospitals, Sample Testing Doubled: MHA

A committee constituted by Home Minister Amit Shah has recommended reduced rates to be charged by private hospitals in Delhi for isolation beds, and ICUs with and without ventilator support, the Home Ministry said on Friday.

The Ministry also said that “sample testing has been doubled immediately”, with “a total of testing samples of 27,263” having been collected in Delhi between 15 and 17 June. It also said that house-to-house health survey in 242 containment zones of the national capital were completed on Thursday, with 2.3 lakh people surveyed.

Satyendar Jain Put on Oxygen Support

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, who had tested positive for COVID-19, has been put on oxygen support after his lung infection increased, his office said on Friday.

He has also been diagnosed with pneumonia, PTI reports citing officials.

Delhi Dy CM Sisodia to Hold Meeting on Increasing ICU Beds

Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia will hold a meeting at 5 pm on Friday to discuss increasing the number of ICU beds in city hospitals, PTI reported.
