Veteran Congress Leader ML Fotedar Passes Away

Congress President Sonia Gandhi expressed her condolences on the death of the veteran leader.

Veteran Congress leader ML Fotedar passed away in Gurugram on 28 September. A former MP, he was a permanent invitee to the Congress Working Committee.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi expressed her condolences. “In his long and active political career spanning over five decades, he tirelessly fought for the rights of people and served them with the utmost integrity,” she said.

The party’s vice president, Rahul Gandhi, tweeted, “Fotedar ji was a pillar of strength in the Congress party. His demise is a big loss to us. My condolences to his family in this hour of grief.”

Congress and many of it’s party members also took to Twitter to express grief.

Fotedar was ill since some time and was admitted to the ICU in Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital.

A close associate of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, the party veteran served as the Political Secretary to both her and Rajiv Gandhi. Later, he was included in the Cabinet as a Minister.
