As the demand for a Ram temple in Ayodhya intensifies, Congress leader Karan Singh, on Thursday, 13 December offered to build an additional statue of Sita along with the Ram statue proposed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, ANI reported.

The letter said:

“If you have taken a decision to construct a magnificent idol of Lord Ram, then it is better to reduce the height of Ram statue to half and build a couple statue of both Ram and Sita instead.”
Karan Singh’s letter to Yogi Adityanath.

This comes after Adityanath floated the idea of building a 221-metre long Ram statue in Ayodhya. According to The Indian Express, Yogi had finalised the details for the construction of a 221 m long statue of Ram in Ayodhya last month. The structure will comprise a Ram statue of 151 m, an overhead umbrella of 20 m and a pedestal of 50 m.

He gave the argument that Sita also deserved a respected place in Ayodhya as all her life, even after being married to Ram, she has not got a deserved place in Ayodhya.
