Complainant in Karan Oberoi Rape Case Allegedly Attacked

The lady astrologer who accused actor Karan Oberoi of rape, has alleged that some unknown miscreants attacked her in the morning at 6:30 am on Saturday, 25 May, pressuring her to withdraw the case.

SD Pasalwar, Senior Inspector Oshiwara station said, “The victim was attacked by two bike-borne men with a knife, they threw a letter at her threatening to take back the complaint.”

He continued, "Case has been resigtered, investigation underway."

The lady said that she was attacked while jogging at Lokhandwala back road, Andheri (West) when the bikers threw water at her along with a chit that said, “Take the case back”. She sustained minor injuries and will be taken to Cooper hospital for a medical examination.

The police is verifying her claims through the CCTV footage.

Karan Oberoi has been sent back to judicial custody for 14 days more, as his bail plea was rejected on 17 May and then on 23 May.

The actor was arrested on 6 May for alleged blackmail of the woman that he was in relationship with since 2016. A complaint was lodged with the Oshiwara Police and charges under Indian Penal Code Sections 376 (rape) and 384 (extortion) were slapped against him.

Quoting the FIR that was registered against him at the Oshiwara police station, a police official said, "Karan Oberoi not only raped the woman and filmed the act but also demanded money from her, threatening to release the video if she did not pay up."
