CJI, Fellow Judge to Carpool to Court During Odd-Even Trial

Both are exempted from the Delhi Government’s odd-even policy since they hold Constitutional posts.

Leading by example, Chief Justice of India TS Thakur and Justice AK Sikri have decided to carpool to court, despite both being exempt from the odd-even policy restrictions imposed by the Delhi government.

The justices will travel in each other’s cars on alternate days; Justice Thakur’s vehicle is odd numbered and Justice Sikri’s is even.

Incidentally, on January 5, when Justice Thakru’s car will be on the road, a CJI-led bench will hear cases related to rising pollution levels in the national capital.

The Chief Justice had supported the odd-even plan even when it was in a nascent stage. On December 6, soon after taking his oath, Justice Thakur had said, “this is the least we (judges) can do if it can actually help the environment.”
