Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra met with Attorney General KK Venugopal at 1:30 pm on Friday, 12 January. The meeting came shortly after four sitting Supreme Court judges called for an unprecedented press conference. However, the agenda of the meeting is unclear. ANI reported that the press conference would be discussed in the meeting, while Bar and Bench reported that the meeting was called over the Unitech matter.

‘First of Its Kind Conference’

In a first, four senior sitting judges of the Supreme Court – J Chelameswar, Kurian Joseph, Ranjan Gogoi and Madan Lokur – assembled the media to complain that the administration of the country's top court was not in order.

At a hurriedly called press conference at the residence of Justice Chelameswar, the second-most senior judge in the apex court, they said it was with "no pleasure" that they had been compelled to make public their objections to the way the SC is being run.
