Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh said on Tuesday that the state government will soon introduce a complete ban on liquor, CNN News18 reported.

Singh's announcement came after he met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during his two-day tour of the state.

The ban will be imposed in a phased manner, Singh said. “Prohibition will first be imposed in villages having a population of 3,000 or more,” India Today quoted the Chief Minister as saying.

Singh’s announcement comes two days after Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the state will implement prohibition in a phased manner.

Currently, Bihar and Gujarat are the only states that have a total ban on alcohol in place.
