Sukma Encounter: 15 Naxals Killed in Chhattisgarh, Weapons Found

Fifteen Naxals were killed and four were apprehended in a gun battle with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, police said on 6 August, Monday.

D M Awasthi, Special DG, Anti-Naxal Operations, told ANI that seven country-made weapons have also been recovered from them.

The gun battle occurred when a joint team of Special Task Force of Chhattisgarh Police and the District Reserve Guard headed to Miltkatong area during the night of 5 August following information about the presence of the Maoists, a police officer told IANS.

Based on reports received in Raipur, the police officer, said that the Maoists started firing at security forces. Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Deputy Inspector General M. Dinakaran confirmed the deaths and said CRPF personnel had been rushed to the area.
