Panchkula police officials on Monday arrested a drugstore owner for allegedly proving shelter to Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s adopted daughter, Honeypreet Insan, Times of India reported.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case picked up Satpal Singh, who according to them, provided logistical support and shelter to Honeypreet.

“Teams are questioning him and verifying his movements on, before and after 25 August. His mobile phone, too, has been put under the scanner,” The Times of India quoted a police official as saying.

This comes days after news broke out that Honeypreet had gone missing. A lookout notice was issued by the police against her, Panchkula DCP Manbir Singh confirmed. Amid speculation about Honeypreet’s alleged escape to Nepal, the Haryana police sent a team to the Indo-Nepal border, as per a report by CNN News 18.

Notorious ‘godman’ Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was sentenced to 20 years in prison for two counts of rape of his female followers, on 28 August.
