4 Illegal Burmese Immigrants Arrested in UP Madrasa Raid

A case has been registered against two Madarsa moderators.

Four Burmese citizens living in India illegally on an invalid visa were arrested in Thanabhavan in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district, as per an FIR filed by police on Monday, 29 July.

Apart from that, a case has also been registered against two moderators of the two Madarsa’s from where the Burmese citizens were arrested – namely Asharfiya Madarsa in Thanabhavan and Mifta Ul Uloom Madarsa in Jalalabad.

According to the informant's inputs, district Shamli's Thanabhavan police, along with Jalalabad station incharge, arrested one Abdul Majeed from one Asharfiya Madarsa from the Delhi-Shaharanpur road in Thanabavan. Apart from Majeed, the other three arrested were Rizwan, Nauman and Furqan, who were from one Mifta Ul Uloom Madarsa in Jalalabad.

The four Burmese residents were living illegally in India on an invalid visa for years, according to the FIR.

Fake documents were also recovered from one of the foreign citizens, who had been teaching children in the Madarsa for years.

Ashraf Hussain, the Madrasa moderator for Ashrafiya Madarsa, Thanabhavan and Hafi Ullah Madarsha moderator Mifta-Ul-Uloom Jajalabad are on the run. The police is on the lookout for the two.

The police has registered cases under sections 14 (Foreign Act), Section 420, Section 467 of the Indian Constitution.

The police said that due to the negligence of the LIU police in the district, the foreigners were living in the Madarsa's for years.

The intelligence Department and the policemen engaged in the investigations, before the police filed a lawsuit and started with legal proceedings.
