Sunny Leone’s interview with CNN-IBN’s Bhupendra Chaubey seems to be a runaway hit. But wait, this isn’t good news at all for the host. No, this is not Mr Chaubey’s chhappan inch chaati (56 inch) moment.

The interview has essentially made him Twitter’s punching bag for his “patronising”, “sexist” and “rude”questions on national television.

But not one to budge and apologise, Chaubey has written a blog explaining his point of view.

His questions, he says, are merely “tough” because of the format of his show.

But more on that in a bit. Post the interview, Leone has received a lot of support from the aam janta by way of bashing Chaubey.

She took to Twitter and very gracefully thanked her fans.

I just wanted to say thank you so much for all the support, all the love that you’ve been giving me over the last couple of days. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you. I wouldn’t be here without your love. And, just as much love as you’re giving me, I want to give you all the love in the world back. So, I love you guys.

Now, to Chaubey’s blogpost.

Following allegations that his line of questioning was “sexist” and “patronising”, Chaubey denied being rude to Leone. Even Leone thought that the interview felt like an interrogation, Chaubey writes.

I simply did the job of asking questions, yes which were perhaps moral in nature. But isn’t that also the story? I did mention this multiple times in the course of the interview that Indians were a bunch of hyper, hypocritical people.

Non-political interviews are not a common occurrence for Bhupendra Chaubey and clearly this time, it’s made him Twitter’s troll point. (Photo: Bhupendra Chaubey’s Twitter feed)

Chaubey says he “researched her” before his interview. But admitting that he hadn’t seen any of her work in Bollywood, got him into more trouble.

But he still went ahead with an interview with Leone because she “is a newsmaker in her own right”.

Like all my interviews, this time too, I tried to read up as much as I could about her. I found all kinds of things.

But that is not all. He went ahead and said this.

And I might just add here that I haven’t seen any of her Bollywood films. Because I have kids at my place, so I can’t watch any of her films in her earlier avatar even if I wanted to.

All in all, looks like this will become one of those interviews that’ll be a reference point for the name Bhupendra Chaubey.

Picture this hypothetical conversation.

Remember Bhupen?
Who Bhupen?
Arey, Bhupendra Chaubey, that guy who got trolled for that insane Sunny Leone interview.
Oh crap, him. Yes, of course.
