Kannada film actor Kashinath, who became famous for double entendres and was a well-known figure in the Kannada film industry, has died this morning.
Kashinath, a veteran director and actor from sandalwood, was suffering from cancer. He was admitted to Shankara Cancer Hospital two days ago where he breathed his last this morning. He is survived by his wife and two children.
Spanning over more than three decades of his career in the Kannada film industry, he has more than 40 films under his name. Kashinath was a famous director and actor of Kannada film industry, specially comedy films with some double meaning dialogues.

Hulimavu police in southeast Bengaluru have refused to register a case in an incident of alleged molestation, insisting that the woman who was attacked personally appear before them. The case appears open and shut as the woman's employer has provided CCTV footage of the incident to buttress the complaint. Yet, the police have refused to act.
The woman, who was in charge of caring for two pet dogs belonging to Dr Prakash R Kota, an industrialist in Basavapura, Bannerghatta Road, was on duty when she was allegedly molested on the night of 10 January.
As soon as the woman raised the alarm, Kota's employees called the police control room. A written complaint was filed with the Hulimavu police the next day. But the police refused to register an FIR.

The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), which generates over 20 tonnes of waste each day, has initiated the process of setting up a state-of-the-art solid waste management facility on its premises to achieve its sustainability goals.
Ekolog Ltd, a Polish company with over 30 years of experience in the environmental technologies sector, has been selected as the implementation partner on this Design-Build-Own-Operate project.
Phase 1 of the facility will have the capability to process 20 TPD (tonnes/day) and will be scalable to 60 TPD. This facility is scheduled to become operational from January 2019. Once commissioned, at 20 TPD, organic waste will be converted into sustainable bio-energy, through a process of biomethanation, generating enough electricity to power about 5,000 households each year.

A fire broke out at a hotel in Jayanagar IV block, South Bengaluru on Thursday afternoon.
Three fire tenders were pressed into service when the fire was noticed inside the kitchen around 4pm, police said. The fire was doused at around 4.40pm.
The hotel is located opposite to Jayanagar IV block bus stand and there were around 20 customers inside the hotel at the time of incident, police added. "Occupants of the hotel walked out soon after noticing the thick smoke. No injuries are reported in the incident," police said. "Traffic was disturbed a little during the operation," they added.

It could be hard to believe, but at least 370 persons were killed in road accidents involving Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) buses over the last five years in the city.
As per BMTC statistics from 1 April 2012 to 31 March 2017, as many as 1,828 accidents involving BMTC buses occurred in the city over the last five years. Of which, 352 were fatal, 68 major and 1,408 minor. A total of 370 were killed and 1,715 persons were injured in the accidents. A compensation of about Rs 52.68 crore has been given by the corporation under the Motor Vehicles Act.
At least 90 persons were killed in 2012-13 followed by 88 in 2013-14, 78 in 2014-15, 69 in 2015-16 and a total of 45 persons were killed in accidents involving BMTC buses in 2016-17. In five years from 2012-13 to 2016-17, the highest number of accidents occurred in 2012-13 with 414 accidents. The lowest was in 2016-17 — 299 accidents.

An Assistant Professor of Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI) was booked by the Yeshwantpur police for endorsing documents for people seeking Aadhaar cards without verifying them.
The accused, Dr Ramamurthy M B, is the third government doctor to be booked in the last eight months for attesting fake documents and issuing letters of endorsement, said the police.
“An initial probe revealed that Dr Ramamurthy had also shared a copy of his ID card along with the letter of endorsement, using which many beneficiaries have availed Aadhaar cards from Yeshwantpur. Many such Aadhaar beneficiaries obtained a driving licence and registered vehicles,” a police officer said.
