A woman delivered a baby with four legs and two male sex organs in Raichur, Karnataka, the Times of India reported.

Lalitamma, 23, who hails from a village in Raichur district, gave birth at the Dhadeasugure Primary Health Centre (PHC) in the early hours of Saturday.

The infant was later taken to the Vijayanagara Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS), Ballari, where he has been placed in neonatal care, the daily reported.

The mother was initially reluctant to take the baby to VIMS for further treatment because she could not afford it. She agreed after being advised by members of her family as well as the staff at the hospital.

Dr Virupaksha T, who was on duty at the time of the birth, made all the arrangements for the baby's transfer to VIMS.

It is a very challenging case and a team of surgeons is looking into the baby’s condition, said Dr Divakar Gaddi, who handled the case.
