SS Rajamouli’s blockbuster Baahubali: The Conclusion will now thrill the audience in China as it releases on 4 May. The sequel to Baahubali: The Beginning is currently still running in theatres in Japan in its 15th week, having earned around $1.3 million already. Baahubali 2’s Chinese release is being handled by E Star Media and it’s making a splash on the largest Chinese online movie ticketing website, Maoyan, already.

The Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamaannah Bhatia-starrer is being called in China as the “Indian version of the Lord of the Rings”. The first part, Baahubali: The Beginning, released in China in July 2016 and it collected over $ 123 million at the Chinese box-office.

The continuously rising popularity of Indian films in China will ensure that the earnings of Baahubali: The Conclusion exceeds the original. Shot in Telugu and Tamil, the Baahubali films were dubbed in to Hindi and Malayalam. Baahubali: The Conclusion became the first Indian film to gross Rs 1500 crore in ticket sales.

China has emerged as a lucrative market for Hindi films with Aamir Khan’s films leading the way. However, more recently non-Aamir Khan-starrers have been doing well in China too. Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar’s Hindi Medium has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark in China already.
