Avalanche Kills 3 in Srinagar’s Pahalgam District

The trio were part of a snow clearance team and reportedly went missing along with the JCB after the avalanche hit.

Three people died after an avalanche struck the Pahalgam area in south Kashmir’s Anantnag, reported ANI on Saturday, 2 February. The three bodies are at the civil hospital at present and they will be handed over to their families after all the formalities, the police told ANI.

The deceased were identified as Javed Ahmed Sheikh, Ilyas Ahmed Shah and Abdul Aziz Khatana, Greater Kashmir reported.

According to the daily, the trio were part of the snow clearance team and reportedly went missing along with a JCB after an avalanche struck at Gudkhamb point in Aru. One among the trio was rescued and shifted to a hospital where he succumbed, the daily’s report added.

An official informed the daily that the rescue team retrieved the bodies of both the persons buried under snow.
