Here’s some good news for commuters from South Delhi to Noida!

The bottleneck after the Ashram flyover may soon be a thing of the past as Delhi government’s Expenditure and Finance Committee (EFC) on Friday, 11 January, approved an extension of the existing flyover right up to DND Flyway with a loop for the traffic moving towards Sarai Kale Khan, reported The Times Of India.

If the planned underpass on Mathura Road, from the Nizamuddin side towards Badarpur, is also fast-tracked, there won’t be any more jams at the Ashram intersection.

According to the report, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Manish Sisodia who chairs the EFC, cleared the extension which will reduce the driving time to Noida by at least 15 minutes.

Traffic coming from Maharani Bagh, Jamia Nagar, Sunlight Colony and Bhogal will then use the road below the flyover.

Sisodia said, “This project is very important for traffic. It will be completed within 15 months (of starting).”

This stretch handles 6 to 7 lakh vehicles daily, including trucks transporting goods from Delhi to Noida and vice-versa, the report said. The Ashram flyover connects south Delhi to its eastern part and Noida. It is also a major gateway through the Barapullah towards INA and AIIMS.

But when the project begins, commuters will have to face congestion. But by then, the bridge over the Yamuna near Kalindi Kunj is expected to open, providing an alternative route to reach Noida, report said.
