Army Jawan Killed in Encounter With NSCN(IM) in Manipur
Additional security forces including the Army, Manipur police and Assam Rifles have rushed to Khoupum.
One rifleman of 13 Sikh Light Infantry was killed in an encounter with the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN(IM)) on Monday, 5 March, at Khoupum area in Manipur's Noney district, reported PTI.
NSCN (I-M) had signed the 'Framework Agreement' on the longstanding Naga problem on 3 August 2015 with the Centre.
It had signed a ceasefire with the Centre in 1997 which was extended indefinitely in 2007.
In September 2017, one National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-K) militant was killed and an army jawan was injured in an anti-terror operation at the India-Myanmar border in Arunachal Pradesh, reported Firstpost.
According to an NDTV report, in October 2017, terrorists attacked a company operating base of the Army at Niausa in Arunachal Pradesh. No casualty or damage to property was reported in the attack, which police sources said was carried out by the NSCN(K).
