An Army jawan who had revealed the misuse of "Sahayak" or buddy system has been found dead under mysterious circumstances. The jawan's body was found in an abandoned barack in Deolali Cantonment in Maharashtra on Thursday morning.
Roy Mathew, a gunner, was found hanging from the ceiling of a room and upon preliminary probe, the doctors said that he might have died three days ago, The Times of India reported.
A source told The Times of India that Mathew had run away from the unit because he was "under huge pressure".
The Army, however, told The Times of India that, “There was no internal Army inquiry against him.”
The Army had issued the standard "apprehension role notice" against Mathew to the police and district authorities in his hometown after he went missing, the report added.
