The Twitter account of Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan was hacked on Monday, 10 June by what seems like a pro Pakistan group of hackers by the name of ‘Ayyildiz Tim Turkish Cyber Army.’

While the display picture of the actor was changed to that of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, the bio read, “Actor ... well at least some are STILL saying so !! Love Pakistan.”

Soon, pro Muslim posts were being shared from the actor’s account.

The cover photo of Bachchan's account, which was subsequently deleted, showed the promo picture of the group with an eagle in flight.

The pinned tweet reads, “This is an important call to the whole world! We do condemn the irrespective behaviors of Iceland republic towards Turkish footballers. We speak softly but carry a big stick and inform you about the big Cyber attack here. As Ayyıldız Tim Turkish Cyber Armny +++”

Soon there were more posts in the favour of Pakistan were hared from the account. One such post also talked about alleged atrocities on Indian Muslims during Ramadan. “The Indian State, who mercilessly attacks the Muslims fasting in the month of Ramadan, is attacking the Ummah Muhammad in this age! Indian Muslims are entrusted to us by Abdulhamid,” the hackers tweeted.

“We are waiting for your support,” said another tweet along with the Turkish flag emoji and the link of its 'official' Instagram page, though unverified.

Soon, more post were shared with the picture of the Pakistan PM along with a heart and the flags of Pakistan and Turkey as the caption.

A spokesperson for Mumbai Police told PTI that they have informed the cyber unit and the matter is being investigated.

"We have informed our cyber unit and Maharashtra Cyber about *hacked* Twitter account of @SrBachchan. They are investigating the matter. Further updates awaited," the Mumbai Police spokesperson told PTI.

The same group had previously hacked Twitter accounts of actors Shahid Kapoor and Anupam Kher among others.
