Amid Bandipora Protests, Another Minor Raped In J&K’s Ganderbal

Even as protests continue over the rape of a three-year-old in Jammu & Kashmir’s Bandipora, another incident of rape has now come to the fore in Ganderbal district.

A youth has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl in Harran village of Ganderbal area in central Kashmir, news portal Greater Kashmir reported.

The arrested, Muhammad Aasif Wani, 20, belongs to the same area, news agency PTI reported.

A medical examination of the girl has been conducted and a special team constituted to investigate the case, PTI quoted an official, as saying.

Protests Continue at Bandipora

Meanwhile, students took out protest rallies against the alleged rape of the toddler in Sumbal area of north Kashmir's Bandipora district last week.

Protests erupted at Women's College Maulana Azad Road in Srinagar as the students came out of their classes and assembled in the campus.

The protesting students demanded stern action against the accused, officials said.

Protests rocked Kashmir University in Hazratbal area of the city where hundreds of students of different departments under the banner of Kashmir University Students Union (KUSU) assembled inside the campus to register their protest, the officials said.
