As the controversial meat bans continue to be implemented in different states, websites like OLX and Quikr offer to buy and sell goats online just a click away with Bakri Id round the corner. While online retailing of goats has been going on for sometime now, it has picked up significantly this year.
I started selling goats on a very small scale a few years ago and it took me almost 10 years to turn into a full-fledged trader of goats. However, I have started using OLX to promote my business and I am quite satisfied with the results. People call me to buy goats after browsing through the online ad. There are different breeds of goats available online which are of high pedigree and are not found in traditional markets.

The only drawback with online buying is that the prices are fixed, with no option of bargaining compared to the open market.
Apart from OLX and Quikr, there is a website called goatindia.com which is considered to be the best place to buy and sell goats.
It has also created a debate amongst the Muslim community, reports India Today, where some scholars claim that unless the sacrificial animal has not been observed minutely to preclude any health issues that make its sacrifice vain, the purchase of such animal was against the edicts of Islam.
It is impossible to check by just going through the pictures of goat on computer or mobile screens.
But the Agra Mufti Mudassar Ali Qadri says that the times are changing and Muslims too, should be ready to embrace this changing time, or be prepared to be left behind.
