US Government May Take on WhatsApp’s Encryption Next

A New York Times report suggests that the US Government may look at breaking WhatsApp’s encryption next.

The Indian Express, quoting a New York Times report, says that the US government may now have its eyes on WhatsApp’s encryption following the FBI’s attempts to break Apple’s iPhone encryption.

The government is reportedly working on a criminal case – details of which are currently unknown – in which the judge has approved a wiretap, but authorities are “stymied” by WhatsApp’s encryption.

WhatsApp does not currently have end-to-end encryption for its chats, but is said to be working on it.
