Taj Mahal Was Not a Hindu Temple: Mahesh Sharma to Lok Sabha

Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma says there is no proof that the Taj Mahal was a Hindu temple.

Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma on Monday said in the Lok Sabha that no evidence had been found that the Taj Mahal was a Hindu temple, reports The Times of India.

He was replying to a declaratory suit filed in a court in Agra that the monument of love be declared a Hindu temple. Sharma added that this issue will not hamper the tourist culture.

When asked about writers returning their Sahitya Akademi awards, Sharma said that they are protesting the ‘mishappenings’ meted out to them. He did not elucidate any further.
