Suspected Maoists Gun Down LJP Leader and His Cousin in Bihar

  • Suspected Maoists shot a district-level leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and his cousin, who is a panchayat poll candidate, dead in Dumaria police station area of Gaya district. the incident happened on Wednesday evening, police said.

  • LJP leader Suresh Paswan, who was going with his cousin Sunil Paswan and some supporters, were waylaid in Dubat Tola by the assailants who then fired on both.

  • The deceased LJP leader’s wife Maya Rani is ‘mukhiya’ of Kachar panchayat where she is seeking re-election in on-going panchayat polls.

  • Sunil Paswan is a candidate for member of Kachar panchayat.

  • The attackers also burnt a car, a mini truck and a motorbike moving with the deceased LJP leader. A joint team of Bihar police and CRPF has been conducting raids in the wake of killing of the LJP leader.
