Sreesanth to Turn Politician? Former Cricketer May Run For the BJP

Sreesanth may be looking to make his foray into politics. The BJP is likely to field the former Indian cricketer in the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections, according to party sources.

The cricketer is expected to meet Amit Shah, who will arrive in the state’s capital, Thiruvananthapuram, on Wednesday.

I will let you know my decision by tomorrow. I have been offered a ticket by the BJP to contest either from Ernakulam or Tripunithura constituency. I wish to contest from Tripunithura.

Sreesanth claims he hails from a Left-leaning family while his wife’s family supports the BJP.

A top BJP leader confirmed that he must have been contacted by the BJP’s central leadership as he is “a celebrity”.

Sreesanth was banned for life by the BCCI after allegations of match-fixing against him.
