A report in the Indian Express states that with the addition of three new members from Mulayam Singh’s family, the Samajwadi Party has become the largest political family in Uttar Pradesh.

The new entrants to SP are Mulayam’s nephew Abhishek Yadav, neice Sandhya Yadav and another relative Vandana Yadav.

According to the report, Mulayam Singh Yadav, MP from Azamgarh, who had “opposed nepotism and feudalism in politics” has several other family members affiliated to the party, most of whom hold important portfolios.

Both Abhishek and Sandhya have been elected as the Chairman of Etawah Zila Panchayat body and Chairman of Mainpuri Zila Panchayat respectively. Both were elected unopposed. Vandana Yadav has been elected as Chairman of Hamirpur Zila Panchayat.

With Their addition to the SP, the total number of elected representatives have shot up to 11.
