Of 15.47 lakh students who appeared for the Class 10 board examinations from Bihar, less than half scored a pass percentage. This result shows a sharp drop of 28 percent compared to the 2015 results.

Although only 46.66 percent passed the exam, 10 students topped the merit list. 42 students – 24 girls and 18 boys – from Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya (SAV) in Bihar’s Jamui district made it to the top 10 merit list this year. 10.86 percent of examinees secured first division this year, last year the number was 21.54 percent. 1,669 students still await their results.

Babita Kumari and Trisha Tanvi topped in the state with 96.6% marks.

After photographs of mass cheating went viral last year, officials installed CCTV cameras and deployed cops at exam centres to ensure that the same was not repeated.

The results are not as expected. But, they show the actual merit of students. Those who have passed will be able to clear competitive exams.
