One person was arrested in Hubballi, Karnataka, for threatening rationalist thinker KS Bhagwan through repeated phone calls on his mobile phone.

Somebody who had sent me a message or talked to me has been nabbed by police and investigation is going on. These threats are nothing new to me. I request government to take such issues seriously. If they deal with such miscreants strictly, this will come to an end.

The Kannada Sahitya Academy also received threat calls on Monday for announcing lifetime achievement award to Bhagwan.

Raghunath Tantri, a 45-year-old priest and warden to a boys’ hostel, was arrested from his house in Hubballi.

At the end of a few calls, the caller said “Jai Shri Ram”, police officials had informed.

KS Bhagwan, who was under police protection, was provided with added police protection after he received a threatening letter on September 10.
