No Bail for Godman: SC Knocks Asaram Bapu Back in Minor Rape Case

The apex court has directed AIIMS to constitute a medical board to evaluate Asaram Bapu’s health.

  • The Supreme Court on Thursday denied interim bail to ‘godman’ Asaram Bapu who is in jail battling charges of sexually assaulting a teenaged girl.

  • The court has directed All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to constitute a medical board to evaluate Bapu’s health. The court has further ordered the board to submit its report within 10 days.

  • Asaram has been charged with sexually assaulting a teenaged girl in his ashram in Manai village near Jodhpur. The girl was a student at the ashram. Following her complaint against Asaram, he was arrested by Jodhpur Police on 31 August, 2013 and has been in jail since then.
