Nirbhaya Case: SC to Work Extra Hours to Hear Rapists’ Appeal

A special bench of the apex court decided to work from 2-6 pm everyday, July 18 onwards.

  • Taking up the matter for hearing on Monday, the Supreme Court said the Special Bench will work from 2-6 pm from July 18 onwards.

  • In April this year, the court had appointed two senior lawyers to appear for the four convicted rapists – Mukesh, Pawan, Vinay, and Akshay.

  • On the night of December 16, 2012, Jyoti Singh, a paramedic who came to be known as Nirbhaya, was brutally assaulted and gang-raped by six persons in a moving bus in south Delhi. She died in a Singapore hospital on December 29.
