  • BSP supremo Mayawati on Friday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim of working for farmers in Uttar Pradesh, alleging that his government had treated the state with “apathy and neglect” during its two-year rule.

  • She claimed in a release issued by the state party unit that like the rally organised in Mathura on completion of Modi government’s one year in office, this year’s event also failed to get a response from people.

  • The 22 crore people of Uttar Pradesh have suffered due to neglect of the central government, she said. Referring to Prime Minister’s announcement yesterday of raising the retirement age of doctors to 65 years, she said it was an attempt to gain cheap publicity.
