Maldives lifts the Emergency imposed a week ago after an alleged attempt to assassinate President Abdullah Yameen.

A state of emergency was declared by the Maldivian government, giving sweeping powers to security forces, after arms and explosives were found in the country’s capital as well as at an island resort.

All fundamental rights have been restored in the Maldives after security forces informed the President that they have addressed “security concerns”.
