Audi Murder:IAF Takes on Mamata,Says Vested Interest Hurting Probe

It has been 48 hours since an Air Force official was mowed down by an Audi during a Republic Day rehearsal in Kolkata but no arrests have been made so far.

The incident took place on Wednesday and has raised many uncomfortable questions for the West Bengal government. Defence spokesperson Wing commander SS Birdi told IBNLive, “There’s a set of people with vested interest who do not want the investigation to proceed.”

Meanwhile, the Kolkata Police which has formed a special team to investigate the case on Thursday issued a lookout notice against the two accused Ambia Sohrab, Sambia Sohrab as also their father TMC leader of Burrabazar constituency Mohammed Sohrab. All three of them have been absconding since the incident.

The team of Kolkata police which will be headed by a joint commissioner have meanwhile seized Ambia’s passport during a raid of one the Sohrab residence, the officer said. The police have so far have raided five houses belonging to the Sohrabs and one of their hotels on Kyd Street in search of the trio.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has promised strict action against the accused.
