BJP MP Kirit Somaiya has alleged that Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and his aide Kanishka Singh were connected to Guido Haschke, one of the middlemen in the AgustaWestland deal. Haschke, Somaiya has alleged, is also involved in the CWG scam.

Randeep Singh Surjewala, of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has denied all the allegations made by Somaiya, in an official statement.

Defending Kanishka Singh, Surjewala said that Singh had absolutely nothing to do with the matter. Surjewala also said that the Congress party wishes for the guilty in the case to “be punished in the harshest possible way”.

He further demanded material proof from Somaiya, and said:

In any case, Mr Kirit Somaiya is requested to provide material at the earliest to his own Government and its agencies, which will facilitate investigation and enable prosecution of the guilty.

About Singh’s relation with realty company owner Rajiv Gupta and his family, Surjewala said that there was a fallout between family members after the will and testament of Shri Ved Prakash Gupta was released in 2005.

Surjewala claims, according to Singh’s mother, this is a case of forgery and fabrication. This matter has been pending in court since their fallout in 2005.

He further added:

We want to remind BJP that Modi government is in power for last two years. Instead of relying upon friendly media leaks, insinuations, innuendoes and falsehood; BJP government should conclude the enquiry and give the harshest punishment to those found guilty of any allegation of bribery in Augusta Westland case.
