Jat Quota Protests: Section 144 Imposed In 8 Districts of Haryana

  • Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC have been imposed in eight districts of Haryana after Jat leaders threatened to relaunch their agitation for reservation, starting 5 June.

  • The Haryana government, which has already started mobilising security forces at several places in the state. CRPF jawans have been deployed near Munak canal, Rohtak and Sonepat so far, ANI reports.

  • The government file an application on the issue in the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday.

  • As many as 30 people were killed and 320 injured while property worth hundreds of crores of rupees was destroyed during the violent agitation in February this year.

  • Chief Minister of Haryana Mohan Lal Khattar stated that they have be assured of peaceful protest and the right to peacefully protest cannot be taken away from anyone.
