A 48-year-old Indian-American woman was shot dead in California, US. The police have arrested her husband for the murder.

Sonia Nallan – a technical recruiter at Encore Semiconductors – was allegedly shot dead by her husband James Nallan, also an Indian-American, at a home on Indigo Oak Lane, San Jose.

James, 63, was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for murder.

Officers arrived to find her with at least one gunshot wound, police said. She was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

James’ believed that his wife was having an affair, the San Jose Police Department said.

James admitted that he felt she was having an affair and confronted her when she returned home that evening. During the confrontation he shot her one time in the head with the purchased firearm.

Sonia has left behind her two sons – Sahil, 21, who attends UC Berkeley and Nitin, 20, who attends UC Irvine.

Chris Nallan, the suspect’s younger brother, visited the Nallans’ two-story stucco said the family is in shock. Though Chris believed that “they had a wonderful relationship,” Chris noted that James Nallan was not the same after suffering a severe head injury in a fall while doing home repairs about seven-years ago. He had fallen into a coma for three months.

When he awoke, his personality had changed dramatically, his brother said. Once fun-loving and engaging, he became withdrawn, and his moods were unpredictable, Chris said.

I know that he was not well because of the fall and the medication that he was taking. His emotions were up and down.

James and Sonia met at a technology firm and had been married for decades, Chris Nallan said.

Sonia Nallan cared for her husband, who was unable to work, he said.

According to the District Attorney’s office, James Nallan’s arraignment was moved from Tuesday to 1:30 pm on Wednesday.
