Claiming that millions of crores worth illicit funds are flowing out of India, HSBC whistleblower Herve Falciani offered cooperation to Indian investigative agencies.
He has, however, asked for protection in exchange of information crucial to the black money probe.
Falciani is facing charges in Switzerland of leaking details of bank account holders in the Geneva branch of HSBC.
The list reached the French government, which then provided information of Indian clients of the bank to India.
He stressed that governments should ensure that whistleblowers are protected.
In a Skype interview, the former employee of HSBC, denied interest in monetary gain.
