Harry Potter is back.

Yes, let that sink in.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a theatre production that picks up from where Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ended. The play focuses on Potter’s youngest son, Albus Severus Potter, who in the epilogue of Deathly Hallows leaves for Hogwarts to start his first year.

There were rumours that the play would be a prequel, but author JK Rowling put them to rest with just one tweet.

Rowling, writer Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany came together to pen an original new story which the play is based on.

The story only exists because the right group of people came together with a brilliant idea about how to present Harry Potter on stage. I’m confident that when audiences see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child they will understand why we chose to tell this story in this way.

The play opens in summer 2016 at the Palace theatre in London. Although casting details have not yet been announced, it has been revealed that over 30 actors will feature in the play.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has been produced in two parts and can either be seen separately or in one go.

Now, can we expect a book?
