Diesel Ban: SC Reserves Order on Car Manufacturers’s Petition

  • The Supreme Court reserved its order on the diesel vehicle manufacturers’ petition, seeking a modification of the order on ban on registration of diesel vehicle above 2000cc.

  • The apex court may allow sale of diesel cars with 2000cc or more engine capacity in Delhi-NCR if they pay 1 percent of ex-showroom price as green cess, according to reports.

  • Luxury carmakers suggested that buyers’ pay 1 percent of the price of a luxury diesel car towards pollution control.The centre has also extended its support.
