A court on Wednesday issued arrest warrants against former Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) Chairman Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh and his wife, former JD(U) MLA Usha Sinha, in connection with the class 12 topper scandal in the state.
Patna Chief Judicial Magistrate Om Prakash issued arrest warrants against the couple on a plea by police. On Tuesday, Sinha was replaced as Principal of Ganga Devi College by senior professor Kanchan Chakhaiyar.
Police had on 11 June arrested Bacha Rai, the kingpin of the scandal, from Bhagwanpur police station in Vaishali district.
Rai is the secretary and principal of the controversial Bishun Rai College. The scandal was brought to the fore by the media, which conducted interviews of arts and science toppers Ruby Rai and Saurabh Shreshta. The students were unable to answers simple questions from their respective subjects.
