Anand Sharma, Congress deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha has resigned from his membership in the upper house, on Tuesday. He wants to make a comeback as a lawmaker from his home state of Himachal Pradesh, reports NDTV.
Sharma was a member from Rajasthan. Top Sources in Congress confirmed Sharma will be the party’s candidate for the single Rajya Sabha seat for Himachal Pradesh. By 11 March, the nomination will be filed and voting will be held on 21 March, soon after, on the same day, results will be announced.
Sharma earlier represented Himachal Pradesh twice before becoming a lawmaker from Rajasthan. If elected from Himachal, this will be Sharma’s fourth term in the Rajya Sabha.
If BJP does not file a nomination, Sharma will be elected, as he will be unopposed.
