IAS officer Jagdish Sonkar, a 2013 batch officer has been suspended for putting one of his shoes on a hospital bed while interacting with patients at a government hospital in Balrampur.

Officer Sonkar went to Ramanujgank hospital on Monday for an inspection where he spoke to a patient. Many other patients and other hospital staff allegedly were furious over his behaviour. A source then clicked a photo, and posted it on social media, where it went viral.

The officer received criticism and the issue was raised with the Chief Minister of Chattisgarh CM Raman Singh. The CM instructed the General Administration Department to train all new officers in social behaviour and public interaction before being sent for field duty and inspection.

Pradesh18 reports that GAD will take strict disciplinary action against the officer.
