Almost after a month of the declassification of files pertaining to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose by the West Bengal government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced today that the Centre will do the same next year.

He met the family members of Subhash Chandra Bose at his official residence and the request to declassify the Netaji files was part of their agenda.

The Prime Minister said that the process of declassification of files which are kept with the Centre will commence from January 23, the birth anniversary of Netaji.

After making the Netaji files public, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee urged the Centre to request other foreign authorities to put files relating to Netaji available with them into the public domain. The Prime Minister complied with the request.
