Bomb Threat: Egypt-bound Passenger Jet Forced to Land in Budapest

A passenger jet heading from Berlin to Hurghada in Egypt landed in Budapest on Monday due to a bomb threat, the police said.

According to Flightradar24, flight DE490, an Airbus A321 jet (which was operated by German airline Condor), flying from Schoenefeld airport in Berlin to Hurghada turned back to Budapest from Serbian airspace. Condor was not immediately available for a comment.

A police spokeswoman, Viktoria Csiszer-Kovacs, said the threat had been aimed at the airline operator but declined to name the company. She said the police were searching passengers and luggage on the jet.
