A group of suspected radical Islamists hurled homemade bombs at a group of police officers guarding Eid prayers in Bangladesh, killing two people, including one policeman, and injured at least eight others.
The blast occurred at Bangladesh’s largest Eid congregation near Sholakia ground at Kishoreganj district, 90 kilometres north of Dhaka.
Nearly 3 lakh people were at the site of the blast, to celebrate Eid. The culprits are absconding and have not been identified yet.
While nobody has claimed the attack yet, the blast has come six days after the horrific terror attack at Dhaka’s Holey Artisan bakery, which killed 28 people.
ISIS in a video, said that the Dhaka attack was a glimpse of what is coming and warned of repeated attacks in Bangladesh and beyond until rule by sharia, Islamic law, is established.
2016 has seen the bloodiest month of Ramadan with 12 different attacks which shook the world.
