After winning the Bengaluru civic body polls, BJP’s Arun Jaitley launched an offensive against the Congress party.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said the result is a “lesson” for all. “Its message is clear that negative politics is not going to yield any benefit to anyone,” he said.

He also referred to the results of civic body polls in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan saying that they came “despite a very negative campaign” by Congress against its Chief Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Vasundhara Raje.

The comments by senior BJP leaders came even before the party emerged as the clear winner.

The election to 198 wards of BBMP was held after a prolonged court battle, as Siddaramaiah-led government sought to defer it on grounds of trifurcating the civic body.
