2 Days After Gangrape, Another Girl Sexually Abused in Salt Lake
A teenager was allegedly sexually assaulted on Tuesday in Salt Lake City, Kolkata. The accused has been arrested.
A girl was allegedly sexually assaulted on Tuesday in Salt Lake City, Kolkata, barely two days after the news of a 24-year old’s gangrape in a moving car shook the city.
The accused has been identified as 21-year-old Mrityunjay Mondal, who visited the girl at her home in Udaypally, while her parents were not at home, police said. He has been arrested.
He took the girl to an under-construction building on the pretext of an outing and allegedly tried to force himself upon her, they added.
The incident came to light after the girl’s brother, worried that she wasn’t home, began searching for her and found her at the construction site.
“When the brother tried to save the girl, two friends of the accused tried to stop him... But somehow he managed to flee from the place with his sister,” police officers said.
The family immediately lodged a complaint and the accused, along with his two friends, was detained and subsequently arrested.
