17 Killed, 33 Injured In an Accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway

In a major accident on the Mumbai-Pune Corridor Expressway, 17 people were killed and around 33 were left injured when a luxury bus rammed into two cars and then fell into a nearby ditch on Sunday morning. Among those killed are 13 men and 4 women.

The accident occurred when a bus coming from Satara collided with two cars, and then fell into a 20 feet ditch on the left side of the road. A Swift Desire car was standing on the road as the driver of the car was changing a punctured tyre, and an Innova stopped to help the driver.

The injured have been immediately rushed to the MGM hospital in Panvel.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has tweeted expressing regret at the accident and has said that rescue operations are underway.
