The registration for UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) December 2018 has started from today, 1 September and will continue till 30 September.

From this year, NET will be conducted twice a year. While the first one will be held from 9 to 23 December, 2018, the second examination will be conducted in the month of July, 2019. The examination is conducted every year to fill up the posts of Assistant Professors and Junior Research fellowships.

How to Register for UGC NET 2018 December Exam?

  1. Candidates applying for NET must only apply on the official NTA website: www.ntanet.nic.in
  2. After filling the application form, the candidate has to select the mode of payment. The candidate can either pay online or generate an e-challan.
  3. Before applying online, candidates are advised to go through detailed notification available on NTA website.

(Note: Fee submitted through any other mode like Money Order, Demand Draft, IPO etc. will be summarily rejected by the board.)

What are the Important Dates for UGC NET 2018 Exam?

  • Online application process: 1- 30 September, 2018 (11:50 PM)
  • Online scanned images uploading: 1 September, 2018 - 1 October, 2018 (11:50 PM)
  • Fee payment: 1 September, 2018 - 1 October, 2018 (11:50 PM)
  • Admit card download begins: 19 November, 2018
  • Exam dates: 9 to 23 December, 2018
  • Result: 10 January, 2019

What is the Exam Pattern for UGC NET 2018 Exam?

From this year, NTA will conduct the exam and instead of 3 papers, candidates will only have to appear for 2 papers, namely paper 1 and paper 2.

Paper 1:

  • Maximum marks: 100 marks
  • Number of questions: 50 objective type compulsory questions.
  • Duration: One hour (Shift 1: 9:30 am to 10:30 am; Shift 2: 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm)

Paper 2:

  • Maximum marks: 200 marks
  • Number of questions: 100 objective type compulsory questions.
  • Duration: Two hours (Shift 1: 11 am to 1 pm; Shift 2: 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm

What is the Application fee for UGC NET 2018?

Here are the details of application fee for UGC NET to be conducted in December:

  • Candidates from General category: Rs 800
  • Candidates from OBC category: Rs 400
  • Candidates from SC/ ST/ PwD/ transgender candidates: Rs 200

What is the Eligibility Criteria for UGC NET 2018?

For UGC NET 2018 candidates need to obtain at least 55 per cent marks in master’s degree or equivalent examination from a recognised universities/ institutions. Candidates from OBC, Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ Persons with Disability (PwD) category and transgender categories need to obtain at least 50 per cent.

Those who are pursuing their master’s (final year) can also apply. Such candidates must complete their master’s degree or equivalent examination within two years from the date of NET result with required percentage of mark.

Age limit for UGC NET 2018:

Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): The upper age limit for appearing in JRF has been raised by two years, from 28 years to 30 years (the relaxation as earlier will remain same).

Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit.
