CBSE Announces Class 12 Board Results, Girls in Top 5 Spots
The results are available on CBSE website cbse.nic.in.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday, 2 May declared the Class 12 results for all the regions. Two girls, Hansika Shukla and Karishma Arora, scored 499 out of 500 marks.
According to CBSE, the top performing region was Trivandrum with a pass percentage of 98.2 percent. The results are available on the board’s website cbse.nic.in.
Girls have a pass percentage of 88.70 which is 9 percentage points more than that of boys' 79.40 per cent. Transgenders have a pass percentage of 83.3 per cent.
In a first, the CBSE announced the class 12 results way ahead of schedule following a Delhi High Court order to complete the process before the undergraduate admissions begin.

Hansika Shukla, Karishma Arora Top With 99.8%
DPS Ghaziabad’s Hansika Shukla and SVM Muzaffarnagar’s Karishma Arora top with 99.8 percent.
Girls Outperform Boys Once Again
Two girls, Karishma Arora and Hansika Shukla, have scored 98.8 percent marks in Class 12 boards.
88.7 percent girls have qualified in the exam, while 79.4 percent boys have passed.
Top Performing Region: Trivandrum
According to CBSE, Trivandrum is the top performing region with a pass percentage of 98.2 percent. Chennai has a pass percentage of 29.93 percent while Delhi has 91.87 percent of pass percentage.

Minister of Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar congratulated Hansika Shukla was securing the first position in the Class 12 examination.
3 Girls Score 498 to Secure the 2nd Position
Gaurangi Chawala from Rishikesh, Raebareli's Aishwarya and Bhavya from Jind have secured the second rank, scoring 498 out of 500 in Class 12 CBSE exams.
Veeraj Jindal and Mehak Talwar from Delhi are among 18 students to rank third in Class 12 CBSE exams.
Government Schools Have Fared Better: Javadekar
Central government run Kendriya Vidyalayas have recorded a success rate of 98.54 percent while Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya schools have scored a success rate of 96.62 percent.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi Congratulates Students
“Congratulations to all my young friends who have successfully passed the CBSE Class 12 examinations,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted.
Arvind Kejriwal's Son Scores 96.4%
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's son Pulkit Kejriwal has secured 96.4 percent in the CBSE Class 12 exam. Pulkit studied at a private school in Noida, a government official said.
Several Delhi ministers, including Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, congratulated Sunita Kejriwal on Twitter.
Smriti Irani's Son Scores 91% in Boards
Union Minister Smriti Irani took to Twitter to announce that she was a “gloating mom” and that her son scored 91 percent in the best four subjects.
BJP Congratulates CBSE Topper
The Uttarakhand BJP congratulated Rishikesh resident Gaurangi Chawla for bagging the second spot in the toppers' list of the CBSE class 12 examination.
"Heartiest congratulations to all students who did well in the CBSE class 12 examinations. Daughter of Rishikesh Gaurangi Chawla has done the state proud by getting the 2nd position all over the country," Pradesh BJP media head Devendra Bhasin said in a statement.
Regret Scoring 99 in English: CBSE Class 12 Topper
Ghaziabad's Hansika Shukla, who has topped the CBSE class 12 examination with 499 marks has only one regret – scoring 99 in English.
Shukla who has scored 100 each in history, political science, psychology and Hindustani vocals, says she followed a no social media policy ahead of examinations.
"I am on cloud nine as I had not expected this kind of result but now I feel it would have been perfect to get one more mark and have 100 in English. I regret that now," Shukla told PTI.
While her mother is an associate professor at a college in Ghaziabad, her father works as a secretary in the Rajya Sabha.
Hearing-Impaired Gurgaon Girl Is Cbse Class 12 Topper in Special Category
Hearing-impaired student Lavanya Balakrishnan is the CBSE Class 12 topper in the persons with disabilities category.
With 97.3 per cent marks, the Gurgaon girl wants to pursue a career in designing.
A student of the Heritage School in Gurgaon, Balakrishnan has scored a perfect 100 in political science.
"I love the subject but I want to pursue a career in designing. I always made it a point to not study beyond six hours a day but I adopted the policy throughout the year rather than just struggling before the exams," she told PTI.
Balakrishnan, who is hearing-impaired since birth, credited her mother motivating her to work hard.
Delhi Pass Percentage up by 2.87%
Delhi recorded a pass percentage of 91.87 percent in the Class 12 CBSE examinations, an increase of 2.87 percent compared to last year.
According to CBSE statistics, Delhi recorded a pass percentage of 91.87 percent. It was 89 percent last year.
'Results Declared Early to Facilitate UG Admissions': CBSE
In a first, the CBSE announced the class 12 results way ahead of schedule following a Delhi High Court order to complete the process before the undergraduate admissions begin.
The Central Board of Secondary Education announced the results within 28 days, around three weeks before the usual schedule, as the exams had begun on 15 February had concluded on 3 April.
Speaking on the CBSE move, a board official told PTI: "The Delhi High court had asked all boards to finish the result process before the undergraduate admissions begin so there is no hassle about pending results and students being stuck."
The CBSE was also ahead of the ICSE board which announces the results before it every year.
The board had advanced the commencement of the examination by a fortnight this year.
